Kenora Association for Community Living Permanent Endowment
KACL Endowment Reaches the $100,000 Donation Target
Thanks to many contributors the Assoociation has reached its target of $100,000 Donations almost on schedule. The orginal target of $50,000 in 3 years with a minimum of $1000 a month was set at the time of the seting up of the endowment September 2008 but was perceived to be a pipe dream at the time.
All contributors who regognized by thank you letters and those who consent are recognized on the web at http://www.kacl.ca/roll.htm. Regular contributors have been Lowery's Stationary. A & W, Bell and Bell Bell Alliant and support famlies as well as certain supporting famlies members. KACL Employees are also significant donors either through direct donations or employee deduction plans.
James Retson, Executive Director expressed appreciation for donations both large and small that help reach the original target almost on schedule. In the early years of an Endowment before sufficient returns are made to hilight the work made possible by such an endowment are heavy slogging. The first stub year of 4 months we gained a return of only $86. Last year the returns amounted to $2526.00.
The Assocaition gets a reporting on an annual basis of the value of its capital as of Decmber 31st which might exceed $100,000. The markets have not been robust during the past year and our expectations are not high for the current year but time will tell.
During the past few years, contributions from the endowment have assisted People First with their annual Christmas Party, the Annual Community Picnic and Healthy Food program of the Community Wellness program.
